FWAA unveils 2021 Super 11 Award winners

Three first-time winners and eight previous ones comprise the 13th Super 11 Awards, which the Football Writers Association of America gives out annually to the best performing sports information departments in the Football Bowl Subdivision. The awards announced this week are for the 2021 season. In addition, the FWAA presented a Super 11 Coach of the Year Award to Boston College Coach Jeff Hafley who granted outstanding access to his program during the 2021 season. He is the fourth head coach to win this award, which began with the 2018 season.

Beamer, Heupel share 2021 Steve Spurrier Award

South Carolina coach Shane Beamer and Tennessee coach Josh Heupel are the co-winners of the Steve Spurrier First-Year Coach of the Year Award presented by the Football Writers Association of America and Chris Doering Mortgage.

Michigan is Cheez-It Bowl National Team of the Week

The Michigan Wolverines used a dominant run game and pressure in the Ohio State backfield to post a 42-27 win over the Buckeyes and snap almost a decade's worth of frustration over their arch-rival. The win was the Wolverines' first over Ohio State since 2011, snapping an eight-game losing streak in the series while earning Michigan (11-1) a share of the Big Ten East Division title. For advancing to the Big Ten Championship Game for the first time the Wolverines are the Cheez-It Bowl National Team of the Week for games of the weekend of Nov. 27, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America.

Utah is Cheez-It Bowl National Team of the Week

The Utah Utes won the Pac-12 South title for the third time in four years and took No. 3 Oregon out of College Football Playoff contention with a convincing 38-7 win Saturday, a historic win in front of a packed house of 52,724 against the highest-ranked team to ever fall at Rice-Eccles Stadium. For scoring the most points Oregon has given up this season while holding the Ducks to a single touchdown for the first time since 2018, Utah earned the Cheez-It Bowl National Team of the Week honor for games of the weekend of Nov. 20, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America.

Kansas is Cheez-It Bowl National Team of the Week

The Kansas Jayhawks scored the most points in a road game in program history, stunning Texas 57-56 in overtime to earn their first conference road win since 2008 and their first ever in Austin. For its touchdown on the first overtime possession and then completing its two-point conversion to win, Kansas earned the Cheez-It Bowl National Team of the Week honor for games of the weekend of Nov. 13, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America.

Just days after the resignation of the school's winningest coach Gary Patterson, redshirt freshman Chandler Morris threw for 461 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start to give interim head coach Jerry Kill his first win as the TCU Horned Frogs upset No. 14 Baylor, 30-28, in Fort Worth. Beating the Bears for a sixth time in the last seven seasons with their highest total offense output since 2019 earned TCU the Cheez-It Bowl National Team of the Week honor for games of the weekend of Nov. 6, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America.

Running back Kenneth Walker III stole the show with five touchdowns, including the game-winner from 23 yards out with five minutes left, as the Michigan State Spartans remained undefeated with 37-33 win over rival Michigan. Rallying from a 16-point deficit in the second half before a sellout crowd to win the Paul Bunyan Trophy earned MSU the Cheez-It Bowl National Team of the Week honor for games of the weekend of Oct. 30, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America.

The Illini Fighting Illini ran for 357 yards and outlasted No. 7 Penn State by scoring on their ninth overtime possession in a 20-18 win to earn the Cheez-It Bowl National Team of the Week honor for games of the weekend of Oct. 23, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America.
