The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 29th year with its 2026 preseason and weekly surveys, and LSU is No. 1 for the fourth time in history after winning the 2025 NCAA championship.

As the 168th season of NCAA Division I baseball begins Friday, Feb. 13, the 2026 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Preseason All-America teams (25th annual) reflect the large talent pool for national championship contenders as they strive for places in the 79th NCAA World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, beginning on June 12.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its NCAA Division II National Players of the Week awards for the week ending February 1. Fort Hays State senior first baseman Derek Woolwine is the National Hitter of the Week and USC Aiken freshman right-hander Ben Shepherd is the National Pitcher of the Week.

The 2024 and 2025 national champion University of Tampa Spartans are the top-ranked team in the NCBWA preseason Division II baseball top 25 poll, which was released Wednesday afternoon. The Spartans went 55-10 in 2025, after posting a 52-8 record in 2024. Tampa received all 20 first-place votes in the preseason national poll.

For the first time in its storied history, the National Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) will add the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) to its weekly polls and player of the week selections.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association has announced LSU outfielder Chris Stanfield as the inaugural winner of the Tony Gwynn Trophy, in a vote of NCBWA board members, collegiate baseball coaches and media members.

Arizona relief pitcher Tony Pluta has been named the 2025 Stopper of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), the organization announced Friday.
