WINGATE, N.C. (NCBWA) – The defending national champion Tampa Spartans remain the number one team in this week’s NCBWA top 25 poll, which was released Wednesday afternoon. Tampa received 18 of the 20 first-place votes, earning the top spot for the fourth straight week.
Central Missouri, Angelo State and Westmont remain second, third and fourth, while North Greenville jumps up six spots to round out the top five. Florida Southern, UT Tyler and Minnesota State remain in the top 10, while Millersville moves up five spots to #9 and Lenoir-Rhyne jumps up six spots to round out the top 10.
Colorado Mesa is up five spots to #13, while Northwest Nazarene jumps up nine spots,
checking in at #15 this week. East Stroudsburg is up four spots, ranking 16th this week. The two new teams to the poll this week are two squads that were not mentioned in last week’s poll. Lewis is #18 this week, while Francis Marion joins the rankings at #23.
The NCBWA Region polls will be announced every Monday throughout the season, while national polls will come out every Wednesday.
