NCBWA announces 2025 District Players of the Year

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced its 27th District Players of the Year winners for all nine U.S. districts for the 2025 season. These 2025 stalwarts include the four finalists for the prestigious Dick Howser Trophy presented by The Game Headwear which will be awarded on June 13 in Omaha, Nebraska: Arkansas junior shortstop Wehiwa Aloy, UCLA sophomore shortstop Roch Cholowsky, Tennessee junior starting pitcher Liam Doyle and Florida State junior shortstop Alex Lodise.

NCBWA names four finalists for 2025 Dick Howser Trophy

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Dick Howser Trophy presented by The Game Headwear have selected the four finalists for the 38th Dick Howser Trophy to be presented at a national news conference at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, on Friday, June 13, at 10 a.m. (CDT) to the college baseball player of the year.

Tennessee (26-2) tops NCBWA Division I Poll

Arkansas has jumped into the No. 1 position for the first time this season after previous No. 1 Tennessee had a 2-2 week and ended a 22-game win streak with a loss to East Tennessee State, 7-6 in 10 innings on March 18. Southeastern Conference quad-leaders (with Texas) Georgia and Tennessee are now Nos. 2 and 3 nationally. Atlantic Coast Conference power Clemson now is No. 4 (with a jump from No. 7 last week) while Florida State at No. 6 follows No. 5 LSU of the SEC.

Tennessee (20-0) tops NCBWA Division I Poll

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 28th year with its 2025 weekly surveys. Tennessee, of the Southeastern Conference, remains at No. 1 for the third week in a row after sweeping its four games last week. The Volunteers of coach, Tony Vitello, now have won 22 games in succession since capturing the 2024 NCAA World Series and 26 of their last 27 games since June 2024. LSU remains No. 2 in the survey ahead of Arkansas, Florida State and Georgia.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 28th year with its 2025 weekly surveys. Tennessee remains as No. 1 for the second week in succession as LSU moved up two places to No. 2. Rounding out this week’s top five are North Carolina, Florida State and Arkansas.

Tennessee (11-0) tops NCBWA Division I Poll

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 28th year with its 2025 weekly surveys. Tennessee (11-0) has nailed down the No. 1 place in the poll after Texas A&M (now No. 2) was the top-ranked team for the first three polls. Some of the big movers from week three to week four were Oklahoma from receiving votes to No. 19 and Alabama from receiving votes to No. 23.

Helton makes Howser Trophy history, named to National Baseball Hall of Fame

Todd Helton, the 1995 Dick Howser Trophy presented by The Game Headwear recipient, has another feather in his already-extensive baseball cap. Helton was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame last week in Cooperstown, New York, as the first Howser Trophy winner and first Tennessee alumnus to be recognized with this high baseball honor.

No. 1 Tennessee captured its first NCAA Baseball Championship this year after starting 2024 at No. 5 in the NCBWA polls while NCAA runnerup was preseason No. 10 Texas A&M.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced its 26th Annual District Players of the Year for all nine districts for the 2024 season.

Tennessee (53-11) tops NCBWA Division I Poll

No. 1 NCAA Championship seed Tennessee is No. 1 in the survey for the fifth week in succession while Kentucky, Texas A&M and North Carolina remain Nos. 2-4 ahead of No. 5 Clemson as 16 teams compete for eight spots at the NCAA World Series June 14-22/23 at Charles Schwab Park in Omaha, Neb. All 16 NCAA Super Regional competitors are in this week’s Top 25.

Tennessee is No. 1 for the fourth week in succession, while Kentucky and Texas A&M remain Nos. 2-3 ahead of North Carolina and Arkansas. All 16 teams hosting NCAA Regionals are among this week’s Top 25 as well as No. 1 NCAA seed and the other seven seeds 2-8. Twenty-eight of the Division I conference champs either are among the ranked squads or received votes.

Tennessee remains No. 1 for the third straight week, while Kentucky jumped one spot to a season-best No. 2. Texas A&M is No. 3, Clemson is No. 4 and Arkansas is No. 5, as NCAA Division I conference tournaments begin.

Tennessee remained at No. 1 ahead of three other Southeastern Conference teams in the Nos. 2-4 locales (No. 2 Arkansas, No. 3 Kentucky and No. 4 Texas A&M). Kentucky rose to a season-best spot, while North Carolina, of the Atlantic Coast Conference, climbed to a season-best No. 5.

Tennessee becomes the fifth team to garner a No. 1 ranking in this year’s NCBWA survey, just ahead of two-week No. 1 Texas A&M. The Volunteers join A&M, Wake Forest, Oregon State and Arkansas in holding down DI’s top position.

Moore, Yesavage are Dick Howser Trophy National Players of the Month

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association has named its Dick Howser Trophy Players of the Month for April, presented by The Game Headwear, tabbing Tennessee infielder Christian Moore as the Hitter of the Month and East Carolina’s Trey Yesavage as the National Pitcher of the Month.

Pimentel, Hall and Lindsey are Dick Howser Trophy National Players of the Week

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its Dick Howser Trophy National Player of the Week awards presented by The Game Headwear for the period ending May 21. UT Rio Grande Valley graduate student first baseman Brandon Pimentel was named National Hitter of the Week, while Southern Miss right-handed pitcher Tanner Hall and  Tennessee junior right-handed pitcher Andrew Lindsey were named Co-National Pitchers of the Week.

A total of 34 standout freshmen college baseball players from every part of the country are featured on the 2022 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Freshman All-America Team, the organization announced today. The 2022 NCBWA Freshman All-America Team features players from 29 different schools and 13 different conferences.
